We are through two weeks of free agency in full and the Cleveland Browns have added a slew of players to their roster.
The Browns most recently added OL Tevin Jenkins and LB Jerome Baker. One part of the roster that all eyes are on is who the Browns add as their veteran quarterback.
In this three-round mock draft, I’m going to assume the Browns add a viable option like Russell Wilson to the fold and he is their Week 1 starter. With that being said, the Browns can land the best player in the draft with the second overall pick.
In terms of the best overall player in this draft, no one stands out more than Abdul Carter. A ferocious game wrecker off the EDGE that racked up 12 sacks, 24 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles in his first season as a full-time pass rusher. Carter was an All-American in 2024 and may be one of the best pass rushers to come out lately.
I’m torn on the Browns picking between QB Shedeur Sanders and Carter here. If the Browns can push the can down the year one more season at QB by having a capable veteran start behind center, then they open the door to taking Carter. Pairing Carter with Myles Garrett would haunt Joe Burrow and the rest of the AFC North in their dreams.
There may not be a more polarizing player in the draft than Milroe. The former Alabama standout never took a step forward like any hoped as a passer with the Crimson Tide, but he has all the goods to be excited about. Milroe is an elite athlete and brings 4.4-4.5 speed to the field. Milroe needs to sit and adjust to the speed of the game in the NFL. Working with his former college OC Tommy Rees and Browns HC Kevin Stefanski could be a great landing spot for him.
Cleveland badly needs to nail their selection of a running back in this draft. Ohio State’s Quinshon Judkins fits the mold as an every-down back and he’s one of the most talented in the draft. When all is said and done, I wouldn’t be surprised if Judkins is the top back from this class.
Judkins runs a 4.48 40-yard dash and has a 38.5-inch vertical jump at 6-foot and 220 pounds. Judkins is built like a brick house and runs hard behind his pads. If the Browns bring back RB Nick Chubb; a room consisting of Judkins, Jerome Ford, and Chubb is enticing.
Grant is a small school stud and a future starter in the NFL in my opinion. If he played for a big school, there wouldn’t be a chance to select him in the third round. In an ideal world, the Browns’ 2025 starters at tackle will be Dawand Jones and Jack Conklin. A player like Grant could be an eventual replacement for Conklin. At 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, Grant brings great athleticism and length to the field.
