Browns Acquire Jerry Jeudy In Trade With Broncos
Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns have acquired wide receiver Jerry Jeudy in a trade with the Denver Broncos, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Browns will be sending a fifth-round draft pick and a sixth-rounder to the Broncos in exchange for Jeudy, per Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL media.

Cleveland made a push for Jeudy back at the trade deadline in October, but was rebuffed by Denver.

That Jeudy was finally dealt does not come as much of a surprise.

Trade rumors have swirled around Jeudy since last offseason, as the former first-round draft pick was a rather significant disappointment in the Mile High City.

Jeudy, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was selected by the Broncos with the 15th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The 24-year-old put forth a solid rookie campaign, playing in every game and catching 52 passes for 856 yards and three touchdowns.

However, he never progressed much past that point.

Injuries limited Jeudy to 10 games during his sophomore season, and that year, he logged 38 catches for 467 yards without reaching the end zone.

Then, in 2022, Jeudy enjoyed the best year of his career to date, hauling in 67 receptions for 972 yards and six scores. He proceeded to take a major step back this past year in what ended up being his final season in Denver, as he snared 54 balls for 758 yards and a couple of touchdowns.

The Browns have been in need of another receiver behind Amari Cooper, so perhaps a change of scenery and less pressure will do Jeudy some good in Cleveland.

The Browns are coming off of a 2023 campaign in which they went 11-6 and made the playoffs, but were routed by the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round.

With Deshaun Watson making his way back from shoulder surgery and Jerry Jeudy now in the fold, it stands to reason that Cleveland’s offense should look better in 2024.
