Browns’ Amari Cooper can help Cleveland in a big way this weekend and may result in him landing with a contender

Amongst the things that haven’t worked out as pictured for the Cleveland Browns this season is veteran wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Cooper has been disappointing so far this season and his future in Cleveland is cloudy, possibly even for the near future.

The Browns’ offense has struggled, they are 1-3 on the season, and the doors very well could fall off completely if they lose in Week 5. Making the playoffs after a 1-4 start is very unlikely and the Browns would have to start thinking about making moves for the future.

Amari Cooper can boost his trade stock against the Washington Commanders

Last week could have been a lot better for Cooper if it was not for a holding call that brought back his 80-yard touchdown. He ended with four catches for 35 yards. It was the third game of four that he had been very limited.

Cooper did stand out against the New York Giants with two touchdowns and 86 yards, but the bad has far outweighed the good. Cleveland could move on from the veteran wideout who has a very tradeable contract and allow their other guys to step into a bigger role. Obviously, the Browns would not do this until they are fully on the outside looking in. That very well could be 1-4.

This weekend against the Commanders, Cooper has the chance to bounce back and put up some good numbers. Boosting his trade stock could make a team like the Kansas City Chiefs come calling. The Chiefs make a whole lot of sense with Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice out indefinitely.

With just 148 yards and 16 catches through four games, the Browns’ Pro Bowl wide receiver is far off track from the career-high 1,250 receiving yards he had last season.

So far this season, the Commanders have had a pretty bad offense that is not very good against the pass. This game could be the one that Cooper bounces back again after the shortcoming last week. Deshaun Watson played well enough for the Browns to win last week, so they will need that again.

The Browns are going to want draft compensation for Cooper and it will have to be enough to warrant giving him up. The better that he plays, the more that the Browns are going to get. If Cooper can go out there and do his thing, it is good news for Cleveland in more ways than one.
