Browns Coach 'Extremely Disappointed' With Myles Garrett

He thought this was behind him.

Coming off an exciting performance in their opening preseason game, the last thing the Cleveland Browns needed going into Week 2 was another negative headline.

Unfortunately for them, that's exactly what they got when All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett was cited for speeding after the team landed back in Ohio this past weekend.

Garrett, who was involved in a frightening single-car wreck three years ago, was clocked driving 100 MPH in a 60 MPH zone on Saturday. He was reportedly pulled over at 2:01 AM and was handed a $250 fine that will allow him to skip his court date once it's taken care of.

The Browns already had a similar situation occur when rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was pulled over twice for speeding after leaving the team's facility back in June.

Speaking on his perennial Defensive Player of the Year Candidate, head coach Kevin Stefanski expressed how "disappointed" he was in Garrett's actions.

"Coming from a team leader, extremely disappointing," Stefanski told reporters ahead of today's joint practice with the Eagles (via ESPN.com). "It's been addressed with Myles — with the football team. He needs to slow down for his safety and the safety of others."

Back in 2022, Garrett sustained a sprained shoulder and biceps injury after his vehicle went off the side of the road and flipped over multiple times. The six-time Pro Bowler was ticketed for "failure to control his motor vehicle" and he vowed to never drive recklessly again.

According to a report from Cleveland's WKYC 3News that same year, the former No. 1 pick had been cited for speeding at least seven times since his arrival in Northeast Ohio by way of Texas A&M.

Hopefully this is the last of these instances — both for Garrett and the Browns — as they attempt to make some noise in an AFC North division that they haven't won since 1989.
