Browns could get breakout player back from injured reserve in time for playoff game in Houston
Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns could get one player back from the injured reserve for the playoffs and he would be impactful.

Grant Delpit has been on the IR with a groin injury that has had him sidelined since Dec. 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Delpit could be returning at the perfect time, with C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans waiting for the Browns defense. During his media availability on Tuesday, head coach Kevin Stefanski said there is ‘a chance’ that he will be activated this week.

Before the injury, Delpit was leading the Browns with 77 tackles and also had an interception and 1.5 sacks to his name. Delpit has had a really good year where we’ve watched him play near a Pro Bowl level.

In Delpit’s absence, rookie S Ronnie Hickman and S D’Anthony Bell have given the Browns meaningful snaps. Both players have had to play a bunch as of late when you add in S Juan Thornhill’s nagging calf injury. Against the Jets in Week 17, Hickman recorded a pick-six. The rookie has been impressive as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State.

If the Browns can get one of the tie better defenders back before taking on Stroud and his arm, it would be a big boost for Cleveland.
