Browns' Dawand Jones Crushing Injury Update

The Cleveland Browns left Louisiana with more than just a stinging 35-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

The defeat capped a challenging performance and a devastating injury to left tackle Dawand Jones, further complicating their already difficult season.

Cleveland started the game sluggishly, trailing 14-6 at halftime due to missed opportunities, including a failed two-point conversion and two missed field goals by Dustin Hopkins.

The offense briefly found life in the third quarter when Jameis Winston led a 92-yard drive, connecting with Elijah Moore for a 30-yard touchdown and successfully converting the two-point attempt to tie the game at 14.

However, the momentum was short-lived. The Saints' balanced offense, led by Alvin Kamara’s 127 rushing yards and Derek Carr’s 259 passing yards, overpowered the Browns’ defense.

New Orleans tallied 473 total yards, including 214 on the ground, as Cleveland’s defensive unit faltered under the relentless attack.

The game’s pivotal moment came late in the first half when Jones sustained a fractured left leg after being rolled into by teammate Wyatt Teller. Jones was immediately placed in an air cast and carted off the field.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed postgame that the 2023 fourth-round pick will miss the remainder of the season. He is expected to make a full recovery for the 2025 season.

Jones’ injury leaves a significant void in Cleveland’s offensive line. Germain Ifedi stepped in following the injury, but Stefanski mentioned that Jedrick Wills could potentially return for the Browns’ quick turnaround game against the division-leading Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football.

With a 3-8 record and a tough opponent ahead, Cleveland must regroup quickly to remain competitive in the AFC North.
