Browns Fan Favorite Nick Chubb 'Close' to Signing?
USA Today SPORTS

Following the end of the 2024 season, Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb became a free agent, and the team is yet to re-sign their franchise player.

Even if the team is interested in reaching a new deal with Chubb, it seems another team may beat them to it.

Ken Carman of 92.3 The Fan recently reported on his show that Chubb is close to signing a deal with an NFC North team. To many fans' dismay, Carman did not say what mystery team it was, but good guesses can be made.

The Green Bay Packers have Josh Jacobs, the Minnesota Vikings have Aaron Jones, and the Detroit Lions have the best running back duo in the NFL with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.

That just leaves the Chicago Bears.

Their current starting running back is D'Andre Swift, who can certainly get the job done. but adding a veteran like Chubb could benefit their backfield. It is not confirmed who the team is, but Chicago seems to be a likely destination.

The Browns drafted two running backs in the 2025 NFL Draft, both of which could be utilized this season. General manager Andrew Berry claimed this did not mean the team would not still go after Chubb in free agency, the moves made their true intentions of replacing Chubb pretty clear.

If he has truly played his final snap as a member of the Browns, then Chubb will still go down as one of the best running backs in the franchise's long history.
