The Cleveland Browns on Saturday acquired Amari Cooper in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys. Now that they have Cooper in the mix, the Browns are allowing one of their receivers to seek a trade.
The Browns gave Jarvis Landry permission to look for a trade, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Saturday.
Landry is in the final year of a five-year, $75 million deal he signed with Cleveland in 2018. He has a $16.3 million cap hit for 2022 and only carries $1.5 million in dead money if traded. It wouldn’t hurt the Browns much financially if they dealt Landry.
Landry made five straight Pro Bowls from 2015-2019. In 12 games last season, he had 52 catches for 570 yards and two touchdowns. He had 72 catches for 840 yards and three touchdowns in 2020.
Cleveland franchise-tagged David Njoku and still has Austin Hooper. The Browns also have Donovan Peoples-Jones, who was another one of their top receivers last season. They should have plenty of options even if they trade Landry.
