As Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer pointed out, the Baltimore Ravens will celebrate former Cleveland Browns owner Art Modell moving that franchise to Baltimore 30 years ago when the current Browns play at the Ravens' M&T Bank Stadium this coming Sunday.
While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Cleveland quarterback Joe Flacco was asked about what's become quite the hot topic among football fans in Northeast Ohio.
"I think it's very very personal from the organization of the Ravens to Browns fans as a giant 'F You' to Browns fans."@KenCarman & @SportsBoyTony on the Ravens 30th year anniversary celebration being this Sunday against the #Browns

"It’s funny because that isn’t the first thing that I think about not being from here, but I can understand how that looks," Flacco explained, according to Cabot. "Listen, they do these things, and I think you can take it however you want. If you’re from Cleveland, you can take it one way, and if you’re from Baltimore, you can say it’s not a big deal, it’s just one of those things. Honestly, for me, it kind of makes it more exciting. We get to go in there when they’re having some people back, and it’s just more ex-players, more eyes on you. It’ll make it more interesting."
While Flacco wasn't in the league when the Browns officially became the Ravens after the 1995 season, the 40-year-old featured for Baltimore from 2008 through the 2018 campaign. During his Ravens tenure, he earned Most Valuable Player Award honors for his play in Super Bowl XLVII. The Ravens have won two Super Bowl championships over the past three decades, while the Browns have never played on a Super Bowl Sunday.
"You don’t need any more excitement," Flacco said about returning to Baltimore as a Cleveland player. "And I honestly don’t think that, as players, and if you’re watching the game on TV, I don’t really think you’re going to feel that side of it. That’s just something that’s going to be there for the people that are in attendance and at halftime. ...For me, it’s another (game). I’ve got to prepare to play another football game, but I think when you look at the outside of it, there’s going to be some people that kind of get to have some fun with this."
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk mentioned that "the new Browns are 9-17 against the old Browns in Baltimore." As of Wednesday afternoon, ESPN BET had the 0-1 Ravens as massive 11.5-point favorites for Sunday's matchup against the 0-1 Browns.
