Browns' Kevin Stefanski: Baker Mayfield has 'really grown'

Browns starting quarterback Baker Mayfield was a spectator for Cleveland's first two preseason games but took the field for Sunday's August finale at the Atlanta Falcons. Mayfield completed six of 10 throws for 113 yards and a touchdown, and he received praise from future Hall of Famer Drew Brees for the toss he made to KhaDarel Hodge for his only score of the outing:

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters Monday he also liked what he saw from his QB1.

"I thought it was a really good throw, his technique, some of the nuances he’s putting into his technique," Stefanski explained, per Marla Ridenour of the Akron Beacon Journal. "He’s really grown in some of the things he’s doing out there."

It's hardly a secret Mayfield pays attention to what's said about him, as he declared earlier this month that he doesn't "care what the doubters say" about his play. The fifth-year option attached to his contract keeps him linked with the Browns through at least 2022, and Brodie Waters recently predicted for ESPN that the 26-year-old signal-caller could ultimately put pen to paper on a five-year extension worth $206 million total with $143 million guaranteed.
