Myles Garrett and Joel Bitonio are highest rated players by Pro Football Focus

Browns' Myles Garrett, Joel Bitonio are highest-rated players by Pro Football Focus

Since Pro Football Focus began in 2006, only one franchise has had an defensive and offensive player finish as PFF's highest rated in the league. In 2009, center Nick Mangold and cornerback Darrelle Revis of the Jets earned the top spots.

The Cleveland Browns could be the second.

Heading into Week 9, defensive end Myles Garrett and guard Joel Bitonio are at the top of the heap for PFF. The Browns' Pro Football Focus Twitter account posted this graphic.

The Browns currently have PFF’s highest graded offensive player and defensive player:

It is an impressive feat for these two stars to hold these spots through the midway point of the season. Garrett is firmly entrenched in the Defensive Player of the Year race once again. He is tied for second in the with league with eight sacks. The two-time All-Pro has already surpassed his forced fumbles total from last season (1) with three, which is best in the league.

Garrett only required six seasons and 73 games to achieve Browns history. The two-time Pro Bowler surpassed Clay Matthews' sack record of 62 in a blowout loss to the New England Patriots in Week 5.

ESPN projects Garrett to finish with about 16 sacks, which would match his career high in 2021.

Bitonio remains a steady presence on Cleveland's front line. Of 560 snaps -– second most in the NFL -– he has been penalized once and allowed one sack.

He also is a major reason why Pro Football Focus has the Browns ranked as the second-best overall offensive line and best run blocking team. This comes without one of their studs, injured guard Wyatt Teller (leg), and tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. struggling with 21 quarterback pressures.
