Browns' Myles Garrett thinks he should be No. 1 on NFL Top 100 players list

For a piece published earlier this month, NFL Network personality and three-time Super Bowl champion Willie McGinest named T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers his top edge-rusher heading into the 2022 season over Cleveland Browns All-Pro Myles Garrett.

No disrespect meant to Garrett, but McGinest's order makes sense. After all, Watt led the league in sacks in each of the past two seasons, is coming off a year where he tied the single-season sack record of 22.5 once held only by Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan and is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

One doesn't have to wonder if Garrett disagrees with McGinest's take.

According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Garrett told reporters he thinks he should be No. 1 overall in this year's edition of NFL Network's Top 100 players. The list's Top 20 athletes will be revealed this coming Sunday.

"I think I should be one, but I mean, I’m not voting," Garrett explained. The three-time Pro Bowl selection was, however, able to admit he knows he won't be atop the rankings this time around.

"Where do I expect myself? Somewhere in the Top 20. I don’t want to rate myself. I’m not sure," Garrett added. "I don’t like to compare myself to anyone, just because I think I have a lot of different things that I bring to the table, and I don’t think anyone has the particular set of skills I have."

Per Michael Baca of the league's website, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes topped the Top 100 list last August. Los Angeles Rams defensive superstar Aaron Donald was second, followed by Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.

Donald was ranked No. 1 for 2019.
