Browns’ Nick Chubb is the highest-rated player from his draft class for good reason
Scott Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

Despite having two picks inside the top-five back in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns’ best player from that class to this point was a second-rounder.

Cleveland found a franchise running back and one of the best in the league in the second round when they selected Nick Chubb out of Georgia.

Now, Chubb is receiving some high praise as a member of that Draft class despite not being a first-rounder.

Chubb has been the highest-graded player since being drafted in the class, according to Pro Football Focus. His 94.8 career grade leads the class and is one of the highest marks in the NFL. There are not many players in the NFL who can put together speed, power, and patience like Chubb.

Cleveland is hoping that Chubb can still be that player who earned the grade in the past. He is working his way back from two surgeries due to a significant knee injury that he suffered at the beginning of the 2023 season. At this point, it is unclear when in 2024 he will be able to play.

The Browns relied on Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt to carry the load in 2023 and the run game took a step back. Chubb has been a focal point of the Browns offense since he was drafted. Chubb has four straight seasons of 1,000 yards leading up until the injury and he had 996 as a rookie in 2018.

Anyone who is a fan of the game wants to see Chubb back healthy in 2024. If he can run wild like himself, expect the grade to stick around for the Pro Bowler.
