Browns placing LB Anthony Walker on injured reserve due to hamstring strain

The Cleveland Browns are placing linebacker Anthony Walker on injured reserve due to a hamstring strain, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 26-year-old should return in three weeks.

Walker is the Browns' defensive signal-caller and played nearly every snap in the team's season-opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He's in his first season with Cleveland after spending the first four years of his career with the Indianapolis Colts.

While losing Walker isn't ideal, the Browns have experience adjusting without him as he missed time during training camp with a knee injury.

Malcolm Smith should see more playing time with Walker sidelined.

Walker recorded one interception, five passes defended, 92 tackles, two tackles for a loss and one quarterback hit in 16 games with the Colts last season. He had 10 tackles against the Chiefs.
