Browns Predicted to Make Franchise-Altering Quarterback Move

Tankathon’s latest 2027 NFL mock draft projects the Cleveland Browns to select Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss at No. 24 overall, a pick that would reset a quarterback room still split among Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders and the rest of a crowded depth chart.

The selection would come on the Browns’ second first-round choice, the Los Angeles Rams pick Tankathon currently slots at No. 24. Cleveland’s own first-rounder is listed 12th, where the same mock has Oklahoma defensive lineman David Stone.

That split is the story. Take a defensive piece early, then use the extra capital to start over at quarterback.

Watson opened 2026 as the starter after beating out Sanders in camp. Sanders is the backup. Dillon Gabriel is on injured reserve. Rookie Taylen Green is the third quarterback on the active roster.

Tankathon’s board treats that group as unfinished business.

Chambliss is listed at 6-foot-0 and 210 pounds. His first three games coming into the Florida game at Ole Miss this season included the following numbers: 77 of 110 for 924 yards, plus two rushing touchdowns. The Rebels are 3-0.

In 2025 he completed 294 of 445 passes for 3,937 yards, 22 touchdowns and three interceptions. He ran for 527 yards and eight scores, finished eighth in Heisman voting and led Ole Miss to a 13-2 season and a College Football Playoff semifinal.

He reached that stage after transferring from Division II Ferris State and winning a sixth year of eligibility.

Tankathon’s first-round quarterback order puts Arch Manning third, Dante Moore seventh and Miami’s Darian Mensah ninth. Chambliss is the next passer taken, at 24, to Cleveland.

That is a late-first swing, not a No. 1 overall fantasy. For the Browns, it is still a franchise-changing decision.

Watson has started 19 games over four seasons in Cleveland. Sanders started seven as a rookie. Gabriel started six before landing on IR.

Drafting Chambliss would not require moving all of them the same weekend. It would say the 2027 draft is the clean break.

Tankathon updates its order after every game and factors team needs into the mock. The Browns stay in the first-round quarterback market because the current room has not closed the job.

If Cleveland keeps both first-round picks, the model has a path: Stone at 12, Chambliss at 24.

The second pick is the reset. A dual-threat Ole Miss starter, already producing in the SEC, as the next attempt to end the rotation.
