Browns QB Baker Mayfield wearing harness on non-throwing shoulder

As explained by The Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Cleveland Browns starting quarterback Baker Mayfield had his left shoulder popped back into place during the 31-21 win over the Houston Texans on Sept. 19 but concerned fans this past Sunday with his lackluster play in a nervy 14-7 victory at the Minnesota Vikings.

Per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Mayfield confirmed to reporters Wednesday that he wore a harness for his non-throwing shoulder in Minnesota and added it "shouldn't" impact his throwing.

Many, however, pointed out "shouldn't" isn't necessarily the same as "isn't" in this instance.

While the Browns won their third straight contest to improve to 3-1, Mayfield was wildly inaccurate versus Minnesota and completed only 15-of-33 passes for 155 yards with no touchdowns but also zero interceptions. However, the 26-year-old missed on what should've been at least two touchdown throws, including one directed toward star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. that would've iced the game away in the fourth quarter.

Mayfield spoke about that miss on Wednesday.

"Everybody’s going to try to make an excuse — I pretty much hit on it after the game," Mayfield said about his overall performance, according to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "I’ve just got to make the damn play. It’s that simple."

Mayfield and the Browns play at the 3-1 Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday.
