Browns QB Baker Mayfield wishes Odell Beckham Jr. 'the best'

Sure, Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns had just completed a 41-16 smackdown of the Cincinnati Bengals. But that didn't stop the media from asking postgame about Odell Beckham Jr., who was shown the door by the Browns just a couple of days prior.

"I wish him well, I really do. My feelings haven't changed," Mayfield said, via ESPN. "From a personal standpoint, he's a good friend of mine."

Nobody on the outside would have thought Mayfield and OBJ were friends given the way the disgruntled wide receiver forced the Browns' hand so he could leave.

Beckham's father made headlines for posting a video to social media highlighting the many times his son was wide open for a pass and Mayfield chose other targets. Then, LeBron James got into the mix.

The Browns didn't appreciate the spectacle Beckham and company were making on social media and excused him from practice last week. The two parties reached an agreement for him to exit on Friday.

Even with all the commotion, Mayfield said his focus continued to be the rest of the team and how they were going to prepare to defeat the Bengals.

"I'm proud of these guys, how they were able to focus up despite all the bull---- that was going on this week," Mayfield continued, "and how they were able to do their job. We're going to see if we can build on it and continue to get better."

Mayfield himself completed 14-of-21 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions on Sunday, marking the start of the "post-Beckham era."

The Browns moved to 5-4 on the season and will prepare to visit the Patriots in Foxborough next weekend.

Meanwhile, Beckham will go on waivers on Monday with hopes of finding a new team.
