Browns QB Deshaun Watson fined three times, including for 'gun themed celebration'

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was fined a total of $35,513 for three separate incidents in their 22-16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night.

Those fines include two different $10,927 fines for his two face mask penalties, as well as another $13,659 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The latter fine was for a "gun themed" celebration that he did with tight end David Njoku following a touchdown.

Njoku was also fined for the celebration.

One play that did not result in a fine for Watson was making contact with an official following one of his two facemask penalties. Watson was clearly seen on replay making contact with an official as an altercation started to break out after he threw a Steelers defender to the ground by his face mask along their sideline.

It was a play that could have very easily resulted in Watson being ejected from the game, but neither the on-field officials or the NFL thought it was something that raised to the level of a foul.

It also was apparently not worthy of a fine.

The bigger problem for Watson and the Browns has been his play since returning from suspension late in the 2022 season. He has yet to play like the $250M quarterback the Browns are paying him to be, and he was especially bad on Monday night with four turnovers, including a pick-six on the first play of the game and a fumble that was returned for the game-winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
