Browns RB Nick Chubb: 'It means a lot to me to be able to stay in Cleveland'

On Monday, the Cleveland Browns officially announced the signing of running back Nick Chubb to a three-year, $36.6 million extension with $20 million guaranteed.

Chubb has been one of Cleveland's key offensive weapons since being drafted in 2018, and he's excited to remain with the Browns through at least the 2024 season.

"It means a lot to me to be able to stay in Cleveland and be a Brown," Chubb said in a statement released by the team. "It's an honor to put on the orange helmet and represent the city of Cleveland and these great fans. I'm happy that I will be able to be here for many more years. The Browns put their faith in me during the draft and I want to say thank you to everyone who believed in me and who has supported me. There is still a lot of work to do to continue to get better and become a better team."

Chubb has run for over 1,000 yards in two of his three NFL seasons and just missed that mark during his rookie season, finishing with 996 yards.

The 25-year-old missed four games last season with a knee injury but still ran for 1,067 yards and 12 touchdowns, adding 16 catches for 150 yards.

The two-time Pro Bowler's $12.2 million per year salary ranks sixth in the NFL for running backs, according to Spotrac. Christian McCaffrey is the league's highest-paid RB at just over $16 million per year.
