Browns receive the injury news they needed before playoffs start
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports.

Cleveland Browns may have just received the big news that’ll help them in the Wild Card.

On Wednesday, S Grant Delpit will practice and has been designated to return from the injured reserve. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said yesterday there was a chance this could happen and it has.

Delpit had been sidelined since Dec. 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a groin injury.

Additionally, the Browns have signed CB Kalon Barnes to the practice squad. Barnes is a 6-foot, 186-pound cornerback who is in his second season after being a second-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in 2022. Barnes has appeared in two games.

Getting Delpit back for Saturday would be a blessing for the Browns when you factor in that they’re going up against soon-to-be Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud. Anytime you can get one of your best defenders back, it is a win. On the season, Delpit has 77 tackles, an interception, and 1.5 sacks.

Delpit will have to be activated officially to play against the Texans, but with two practices to go before then there is a good chance that Cleveland gets him back. The playoffs are as important as it gets and Delpit is a competitor.

Ronnie Hickman and D’Anthony Bell have filled in at safety with injuries to Delpit and Juan Thornhill at times throughout the season. Having them as depth would be beneficial.
