Browns' Safety Sends Harsh Derrick Henry Message Before Ravens Game

When the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens get together in an AFC North battle, there is a good chance Derrick Henry is going to come out hungry and motivated. The 31-year-old running back had a massive first game against the Buffalo Bills, but it's what happened late in the game that is bugging the running back.

Henry gained 169 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns, but he fumbled late in the game and cost Baltimore a chance to ice the game. Josh Allen and the Bills capitalized, eventually winning the game 41-40 on "Sunday Night Football."

Now, he may have even more incentive, as a Cleveland Browns defensive player had some pretty harsh words for the running back. Henry could see this as bulletin board-type material from the opponent.

Safety Grant Delpit answered Browns reporter Mary Kay Cabot's question, "How hard is Derrick Henry to bring down?". The response had many around the league turning their heads in amazement at the answer. Delpit said:

"Not hard."

A season ago, Henry faced the Browns twice and got into the end zone three times on 31 carries. Henry finished with 213 yards on the ground. He also had three catches in those two games for 27 yards.

Delpit is part of the Cleveland defense that held Cincinnati to just seven total yards of offense in the second half in Week 1. The Browns still lost the game to their divisional rival. That raises the stakes for the game against the Ravens, with both teams looking to avoid an 0-2 start.

"King Henry" is part of an offense that scored 40 points in Buffalo. The former Tennessee Titans star is in his second season with the Ravens. Henry was the NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2020 and has been to the Pro Bowl five times.

During college, Henry was the Heisman Trophy winner in 2015 and helped Alabama win the College Football Playoff the same season.

Many may be wondering who Delpit is and what qualifications he has to run his mouth at Henry. A former LSU Tiger shows that the SEC rivalry runs deep for these two. Delpit was drafted in the 2020 draft, a season after winning a national title with the Tigers. He had four tackles in the loss to Cincinnati last week. In his career, he has 366 tackles, six interceptions and 3.5 sacks.

The Ravens host the Browns at 1 p.m. ET Sunday on CBS.
