The Cleveland Browns are filling the open roster spot with the move that made the most sense.
Cleveland is signing quarterback P.J. Walker to the active roster. Walker started for the Browns in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers and played the majority of the way in Week 7 at the Indianapolis Colts.

In both the games that Walker has played in this season, the Browns have won. He was the backup to rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4.
With Walker having sided his three practice squad elevations already, the Browns had to sign him or let him go. Cleveland now has three quarterbacks on the active roster.
Cleveland added Walker to their practice squad at roster cutdowns to begin the season, now he may be forced into an extended role with uncertainty on whether or not Watson needs to rest the shoulder for a longer period.
On the year, Walker has three interceptions to no touchdowns. The quarterback from Temple has made some big throws but also has struggled to take care of the ball.
It was the move that made the most sense for the Browns if they believe Walker can continue to be their backup.
