Browns star WR discusses if he has a favorite in four-way QB competition

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy reports to training camp on Tuesday but still doesn't know who the team's starting quarterback is.

The Browns are holding a four-way QB competition between Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. Starting QB Deshaun Watson is expected to miss most of the season after re-tearing his right Achilles in January.

The contest remains wide open. Jeudy, the team's WR1, says he's not providing input.

"We got four quarterbacks, they've all been doing their thing, for real. My job is to make it easier, whoever is at the end. I'm just gonna get open for them and do my thing, for real," Jeudy said in a "Nightcap" clip posted Sunday. "I don't got no control over that. Whoever the coaches think to choose, whoever they pick to be the quarterback, I'm just gonna make sure their job easier when they throw the ball."

The Browns can count on Jeudy. After they acquired the 26-year-old wideout in a trade with the Denver Broncos in March 2024, he had one of the most productive years of his career.

The 2020 first-round pick logged career highs in receptions (90) and receiving yards (1,229) in 17 regular-season games. Remember the Browns started four quarterbacks last season: Watson, Jameis Winston, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Bailey Zappe.

Jeudy may have to play with multiple QBs again this upcoming season. None of the passers seemed poised to establish themselves as Cleveland's guy.

Flacco turned 40 on Jan. 16. Pickett posted a below-average 79.3 passer rating in his first three seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles.

Gabriel (5-foot-11, 205 pounds) lacks prototypical size for an NFL QB. Sanders, meanwhile, may sit for a season. The Browns didn't let him take reps with the starters during OTAs and mandatory minicamp, hinting at their potential plans.

The Browns have more questions than answers at the most important position. At least they still have Jeudy, a reliable target for whoever wins the job.
