Deshaun Watson thinks that he can get back to his former self in the 2025 season, but it could be in the Cleveland Browns' best interests to get some insurance in the 2025 NFL Draft.
In a recent article by PFF's Dalton Wasserman, he picks one player that could be the "surprise pick" for every NFL team in the first round of the draft. For the Browns, he thinks they could take a big risk and draft Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart with the second overall pick.
"Jaxson Dart’s draft stock might be the toughest to pin down in this class," Wasserman writes. "If the Browns view him as their guy, they could opt to wait until the top of the second round to make their move. But if they’re truly sold — especially on the back of his FBS-best 91.9 passing grade in 2024 — they might not be able to resist pulling the trigger at No. 2 overall."
The pick that many expect the Browns to make at No. 2 is Colorado two-way superstar Travis Hunter. But if the team decides they want to secure their quarterback of the future sooner rather than later, Dart could be a solid option.
He finished his senior season at Ole Miss with 4,279 passing yards on 69.3 completion percentage, both of which led the SEC. He was also able to get it in the run game, racking up just under 500 yards and three touchdowns with his legs.
The Browns' situation under center is sketchy to say the least, so getting another guy to sure up the quarterback room could be something for the team to consider when they are on the clock at No. 2.
