According to reports the Cleveland Browns will release veteran cornerback A.J. Green. After making the initial 53-man roster yesterday, the team will be forced to release a core player from the Andrew Berry regime.

Green was Berry's first undrafted free agent that he signed, after Green went undrafted in 2020. It was also the first time we saw the team's new strategy of offering a significant amount of money to ensure the player signing.

Green was a solid player in his role as an ace special teamer and when he had the opportunity to play he was always up to the task. He played in 31 games and recorded 2 interceptions in his first three seasons.

Green's release became necessary when the team was awarded cornerback Kahlef Hailassie on waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs. Hailassie performed very well in the preseason and with Berry's track record of evaluating cornerbacks, one could assume that Berry must be high on him.

Now it will be Green who will be subject to waiver claims and teams will have an opportunity to claim him by 4 p.m. If he makes it through waivers, he can sign anywhere he would like including back to the Browns practice squad. We will have to wait to see how everything shakes out so stay tuned.
