The Cleveland Browns did not just select one quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, but they selected two: Oregon's Dillon Gabriel and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, who fell all the way to the fifth round.
As a result, the team now has five quarterbacks on their roster, with the other three being Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, and Kenny Pickett.
The team is unlikely to keep all five of those guys heading into the season, which means that a trade involving one of them may happen sooner rather than later.
So … brace yourself for an updated QB controversy around here
The most likely trade candidate seems to be Pickett, as he is currently listed as the team's QB3, and is likely not going to be part of their future. Gabriel and Sanders will compete to be the team's future QB, Flacco just signed a new contract, and Watson is currently listed as the Browns' starter.
With all of that being said, Pickett seems to be the odd man out.
He was drafted 20th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the first few years of his career have not gone exactly like he would have hoped for. So a trade and a fresh start could be something that would be good for Pickett.
The Browns have a decision to make regarding their quarterback situation. Who is going to start opening day? Who is going to be the quarterback of the future? But one thing that could make those decisions a bit easier would be to trade one of their five field generals.
