Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. to make 2021 season debut against Bears

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will make his 2021 season debut on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, relayed head coach Kevin Stefanski.

“He’s looked good,’' Stefanski said. “He’s ready to go.’'

The Browns took a cautious approach with Beckham, holding him out of the first two games of the season. He practiced in a limited capacity during those two weeks before being a full participant this week.

Beckham said Thursday, via ESPN: "Everything going smooth," Beckham said. "Part of the progression, working my way into it. Everything feeling good. Just taking it day by day."

The 28-year-old's return comes at an ideal time for the Browns, who will be without Jarvis Landry for at least three games. Landry suffered a sprained MCL against the Houston Texans and was placed on injured reserve earlier this week.

Anthony Schwartz, Donovan Peoples-Jones and Rashard Higgins might also see more playing time this week with Landry sidelined.

Beckham is entering his third season with the Browns after five seasons with the New York Giants. He had 74 catches for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns in 2019 and caught 23 passes for 319 yards and three TDs in seven games last season.
