Browns WR Rashard Higgins cited for drag racing

The Cleveland Browns are off to quite a rough start to the midweek ahead of their first playoff game in 18 years.

As Jake Trotter noted for ESPN, Cleveland wide receiver Rashard Higgins, affectionately known as "Hollywood," was cited for drag racing roughly 10 miles from the club's practice facility on Tuesday morning.

"We are aware of the incident, will gather more information and handle this matter appropriately," a team spokesperson said in a statement shared by Trotter.

Higgins and KhaDarel Hodge were among four receivers who missed Cleveland's loss to the New York Jets on Dec. 27 because of the league's COVID-19 protocols. All four were available for last Sunday's victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers that secured the Browns a postseason berth and playoff game at Pittsburgh this coming Sunday, but reports surfaced earlier on Tuesday that Hodge and three-time Pro Bowl left guard Joel Bitonio were the two Cleveland players who tested positive for the coronavirus along with head coach Kevin Stefanski and two members of Stefanski's staff.

The Browns have since placed Hodge and Bitonio on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Anybody who tests positive for the virus following Week 17 will not be available to participate in any wild-card weekend contest per NFL guidelines.
