Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians doesn't understand why Tom Brady is facing so much criticism this season, arguing that the veteran quarterback has done a great job settling in to the new offense and putting the Bucs into position to reach the postseason for the first time since 2007.
"I don't know why anyone's criticizing Tom," Arians said. "What he did at the end of the half and to start the second half [against] Minnesota – very, very few teams can score 17 points in a matter of five or six minutes. If we finished the half with 17 points, I don't [care] how we start. He's not getting enough credit for what he's doing."
Arians has a point. Brady is having a solid season with the Bucs, passing for nearly 3,500 yards through 13 games while throwing 30 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions. Tampa Bay currently holds the sixth spot in the NFC standings, which would earn a team a spot in the playoffs.
However, many people have pointed out that when it comes to people hurling unnecessary shots at Brady, the call is coming from inside the house. After all, Arians has gone out of his way to publicly criticize Brady several times over the course of the season, and while both he and Brady have insisted they have a good relationship, it's a tad hypocritical for Arians to get angry at people for calling out Brady when he has arguably been his quarterback's most vocal critic.
