Bryce Ford-Wheaton Speaks Highly of WVU's Freshman Class

One of the most exciting things about West Virginia's 6-3 start to the season isn't just that they're finding ways to win games and be in the mix for the Big 12 title, but that they are doing it with several young pieces.

Over the last handful of weeks, we've seen the likes of RB Jahiem White, WR Rodney Gallagher III, WR Traylon Ray, and LB Ben Cutter become significant contributors. That's four true freshman playing a lot of meaningful snaps and for them to be playing this well this early in their career provides hope to a really bright future in Morgantown.

Former West Virginia wide receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton praised the freshman class during Saturday's dominating win over BYU.

Bryce might be right. I can't remember the last time WVU had this many true freshman playing at a high level in a significant role on a winning team. But those four aren't alone. There are others that you may not have seen on the field yet or have seen very little of that are highly thought of by Neal Brown and his staff. DL Corey McIntyre, DE James Heard, RB DJ Oliver, OT Johnny Williams IV, and OL Nick Krahe are all projected to be multi-year starters for the Mountaineers. And arguably the most talented in the entire class is linebacker Josiah Trotter who will miss this season with a lower leg injury. Brown has said on numerous occasions that if he wasn't hurt, he'd be playing a lot.
