Bryce Huff’s absence from Eagles OTAs strongly suggests what many fans have already begun to suspect

Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Bryce Huff hasn’t shown up for any of the team’s spring OTAs, which pretty much confirms what a lot of people have already been thinking: he’s probably on his way out.

Jeff McLane from The Philadelphia Inquirer even reported that Huff is “unlikely to be part of the Eagles’ plans for 2025,” so at this point, it’s starting to feel like a matter of "when," not "if."

“Huff is still under contract and is owed $16.75 million in guaranteed money this season,” Jeff McLane writes. “Workouts are voluntary, but his absence suggests it was mutually agreed upon. The Eagles don’t want him getting injured in case they can still unload him after June 1, when it would make more fiscal sense, and he certainly doesn’t want to be where he isn’t exactly wanted.”

Keeping Huff off the practice field right now seems like the smartest and safest move the Eagles can make. It lowers the risk of him getting hurt, which would only make things more complicated for Philly. It also gives the front office some breathing room to figure out what they actually want to do with him and whether there’s still a place for him on the roster moving forward.

“Can the Eagles trade him? Probably not with that price tag. Maybe they eat a large portion of his salary just to cut bait,” notes McLane. “Or they swap ‘your underperforming, overpaid free agent’ for mine. Or maybe they suffer some injuries at edge rusher this spring and have no choice but to have him in uniform when training camp starts. But my guess is Roseman is eventually forced to waive one of his few bad moves from last offseason.”

Huff, who didn’t suit up for Super Bowl LIX, played in just 12 games during the season, starting six of them. His production was limited, finishing with only 2.5 sacks and 13 tackles. Part of that drop-off was due to the wrist injury he sustained, which ultimately required surgery.
