Buccaneers' 1 Offensive Problem A 'Good One' To Have

On paper, you will be hard-pressed to find a better overall offense in football than what Josh Grizzard has to work with as the coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Depth at the receiver position with Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Emeka Egbuka, and Jalen McMillan, a solid tight end in Cade Otton, and a trio of running backs of Bucky Irving, Rachaad White, and Sean Tucker.

That is quite the group around Baker Mayfield.

And for Fox Sports' David Helman, when ranking the quarterbacks in the NFL who have the most help around them, naturally, Tampa Bay comes in high at No. 5.

"There are better receiver duos elsewhere in the league than the one in Tampa," Helman wrote. "But if we’re talking about the entirety of a receiver room, I don’t think you’ll find a better group than Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan and Emeka Egbuka. And that’s without even mentioning that Sterling Shepard and Trey Palmer are still kicking around on the roster. That’s what you’d call depth.

"My only concern is that first-time OC Josh Grizzard will be Baker Mayfield’s third coordinator in three years with the Bucs, but the last two guys to hold the job are NFL head coaches now. Maybe that’s a good problem to have."

The only "problem" is Grizzard as Baker's new coordinator. However, let's not forget that it won't be entirely foreign for Mayfield, as Grizzard was the passing game coordinator under Liam Coen last year.

Therefore, there will be some form of continuity.

Baker has shown he can adapt from Dave Canales to Coen, and now he'll have to do it again with Grizzard. And doing it is a lot easier when you have an embarrassment of riches around you at receiver, tight end, and running back.

Mayfield has all the help he needs to not only win the NFC South for the third straight season but also go on a deep playoff run and possibly more.

In truth, there isn't much more Jason Licht could have done to give Baker the necessary weapons to win with.
