Buccaneers Announce Decision On Iconic Creamsicle Uniforms

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will treat NFL fans to their Creamsicle uniforms again this season.

Tampa Bay revealed game themes for the 2025 campaign's home matchups on Tuesday. On Dec. 11, the Buccaneers will don the orange and white uniforms for a Thursday Night Football contest against the Atlanta Falcons at Raymond James Stadium.

The Buccaneers wore Creamsicle uniforms when joining the NFL in 1976. After years out of circulation, they introduced an updated version of the beloved apparel in 2023.

"Our fans have waited a decade to see our players back in these classic Creamsicle jerseys, and we are excited to celebrate our rich legacy when we debut these one-of-a-kind uniforms," Buccaneers Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford said two years ago.

The throwback attire hasn't brought the Bucs good luck. They returned for a 20-6 loss to the Detroit Lions on Oct. 15, 2023.

Last season, Tampa Bay wore the Creamsicle uniforms during a 31-26 loss to Atlanta. Baker Mayfield accrued 330 passing yards and two touchdowns, but Kirk Cousins compiled 276 yards and four scores.

The Buccaneers won't blame those results on the Creamsicles. Their iconic look returns for another NFC South clash against the Falcons in a game that could have significant division ramifications.

Tampa Bay has won the South four straight times despite going a combined 27-24 in the last three seasons. However, the Buccaneers haven't advanced past the NFC Divisional Round since Tom Brady steered them to a Super Bowl title four years ago.

Atlanta could represent Tampa Bay's biggest NFC South challenger behind Michael Penix Jr. The Falcons have won four of their last five games against the Buccaneers.

Fans can see the Creamsicle uniforms when the Buccaneers and Falcons play in a Week 15 showdown on Amazon Prime Video. They'll first start the 2025 schedule against each other at Atlanta on Sunday, Sept. 7.
