The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Saturday that rookie linebacker David Walker will be placed on injured reserve due to a torn ACL suffered during Friday’s practice, which will keep him out for the entire 2025 season. To fill the roster spot, the Buccaneers signed wide receiver Jacob Harris, a fourth-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2021.

Walker’s college journey started at Southern Arkansas, where he laid the groundwork for his future success. Before the 2022 season, he made the strategic move to Central Arkansas, a decision that paid off big time. The 2024 season was a breakout year for Walker. He earned First-team FCS All-American honors. He also earned the Buck Buchanan Award as the top defensive player in the FCS.

Walker’s rookie deal with the Buccaneers is a four-year contract worth $5.16 million. The breakdown includes a signing bonus of nearly $1 million. It also has guaranteed money of $963,260. His average annual salary is $1,290,815.

Jacob Harris, a 28-year-old wide receiver, was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. His rookie contract with the Rams was worth $3,979,344 over four years. However, his time with the Rams was cut short when he suffered a torn ACL, landing him on injured reserve in December 2022. After being released by the Rams, Harris signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he spent the 2023 season on the practice squad, occasionally playing on special teams. Recently, Harris joined the Buccaneers, bringing his 6’5 frame and athleticism to their injury-riddled wide receiver group.
