The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a strategic move on Saturday by elevating tackle Tyler McLellan from their practice squad, paving the way for his potential debut in today’s Week Three matchup against the New York Jets. With McLellan on board, the Buccaneers can now dress a maximum of 48 players for today’s game, provided they have eight offensive linemen on the active roster.
This elevation bolsters the Buccaneers’ O-line depth, which has been depleted due to injuries to key players like Tristan Wirfs, Luke Goedeke, Cody Mauch and Michael Jordan. McLellan brings valuable experience, having spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers last season after signing as an undrafted free agent.
Tyler McLellan, a 6-8, 355-pound tackle, joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the start of their 2025 training camp. Previously, he spent his rookie season on the Los Angeles Chargers’ injured reserve list after signing as an undrafted free agent. During his time at Campbell University in North Carolina, McLellan earned impressive accolades, including one first-team and two second-team All-Big South conference honors.
Before joining the Buccaneers, McLellan played college ball at Campbell University. The Bucs signed him to bolster their offensive line depth, particularly with Tristan Wirfs, their All-Pro left tackle, recovering from knee surgery.
