Buccaneers Bring Back Former Second-Round Pick
USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Connect

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing back a familiar face to help bolster their cornerback room.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Tampa Bay is signing veteran cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting to its practice squad. The move reunites the Buccaneers with the player they selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Murphy-Bunting Returns to Tampa

Murphy-Bunting was released by the Arizona Cardinals last week. Arizona still owes him $2 million in guarantees following his release.

Fowler reports that Murphy-Bunting could have an opportunity to reach Tampa Bay’s 53-man roster early in the season.

“Reunion: Veteran corner Sean Murphy-Bunting is signing to the Bucs practice squad with the chance to elevate to 53 early in year, per source. Murphy-Bunting, Tampa’s second round pick in 2019, was released last week by Arizona, which owes him $2M in guarantees.”
