The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have officially confirmed what GoBucs already announced a few weeks ago: the original 1976 jersey will return to commemorate the franchise’s 50th season. The uniform, a symbol of the team’s inaugural year, will debut in the home opener against the New York Jets on September 21 at Raymond James Stadium.

In our previous article, we told you how the organization planned to bring back this iconic look. Now it’s official: the Bucs will wear the full uniform they wore when they first entered the NFL for the first time in nearly five decades.

A tribute to the team’s origins

The redesign maintains the historic essence with orange numbers trimmed in red , the classic three-stripe pattern on the sleeves, and the special 50th anniversary Creamsicle patch . The details go even further, including a nod on the inside of the collar with the slogan “Hey! Hey! Tampa Bay!” , the famous anthem that accompanied the team’s debut season in 1979.

The set is also completed with a Creamsicle helmet , white shorts and striped socks, faithfully replicating the 1976 style.

The new version was developed in collaboration with Nike , combining history and technology. The Vapor FUSE fabric is 85% recycled, with Dri-FIT technology and microperforations for a modern fit and greater comfort on the field.

Available for fans

Fans can now purchase the original 1976 jersey at both the official online store ( shop.buccaneers.com ) and the Team Store at Raymond James Stadium.

With this return to their roots, the Buccaneers celebrate a history that spans two Super Bowls, seven division titles, and half a century of history . It’s a reminder that every fan, from hard-time veterans to the next generation, is part of this journey.
