Buccaneers Dodge Major Rachaad White Injury Bullet

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers managed a 29-7 win over the Tennessee Titans in their preseason opener, but it was marred by the injury suffered to running back Rachaad White.

The veteran back rushed for 28 yards on six carries, but it was on his final run that he suffered a groin injury, as the conversation of whether or not starters should play in preseason surfaced again.

Given how crucial the run game is to the Buccaneers' offense, White and Bucky Irving are the two key role players who will shoulder the load for Josh Grizzard in 2025.

But with groin injuries, we know they can linger and potentially be long-term issues; however, head coach Todd Bowles has delivered an update on White, and we think we can hear a big sigh of relief from Buccaneers fans.

"He's just got a groin, he's day to day," Bowles said.

We did note at the time of the injury that White being pulled from the game could have just been precautionary, given it was only a preseason game, and now with Bowles' words, that validates the thought.

Granted, we don't think White will be taking his place on the field in the second preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, because it is clear Tampa Bay dodged a bullet here.

Yes, the franchise has Sean Tucker and even Owen Wright, who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown from 13 carries against the Titans as options.

So, the Buccaneers can feel a little lucky that they escaped a serious injury with White.
