The Tampa Bay Buccaneers delivered a commanding 30-7 victory over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in Week 12, showcasing a complete team effort led by an explosive offensive performance.
A standout day from Bucky Irving highlighted the Buccaneers’ ground game, which powered through a Giants defense that had few answers.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield efficiently managed the offense, completing 24 of 30 passes for 294 yards. While he didn’t throw for a touchdown, his 10-yard rushing score capped a dominant second quarter that saw the Buccaneers extend their lead to 23-0 by halftime.
Receiver Mike Evans returned from a five-week absence to haul in five receptions for 68 yards, providing another reliable target in the passing game.
Per Next Gen Stats, Irving accounted for 151 all-purpose yards on 18 touches, setting career highs in rushing yards over expected (+48) and yards after contact (+34). His performance included 87 rushing yards on 12 carries, a touchdown, and six receptions for 64 yards.
Irving also forced six missed tackles, elevating his season total to 55, ranking seventh in the NFL. Tampa Bay complemented Irving’s dynamic outing with additional rushing touchdowns from Rachaad White, Sean Tucker, and Baker Mayfield.
The Giants’ offense, led by first-year starter Tommy DeVito, was held to just 245 total yards, including 76 on the ground. Devin Singletary scored New York’s lone touchdown in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard run.
The victory improves the Buccaneers to 5-6, keeping them in contention for the NFC South title, just behind the 6-5 Falcons. With Irving emerging as a key weapon, Tampa Bay looks poised to maintain momentum heading into the final stretch of the season, as the team works to capitalize on its recent success.
Consistency across all phases will be crucial as they pursue a postseason berth.
