The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will try and sweep the division rival Atlanta Falcons for the second straight season on Sunday. Last year at this time is when the Buccaneers put it high gear and won every game in December and ended up winning the Super Bowl. They will look to do the same this year starting with Sunday’s matchup.

The Falcons are 5-6 on the season and are coming off a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Buccaneers 8-3 on the season beat the Colts last Sunday on the last drive of the game thanks to Leonard Fournette.

The Falcons and quarterback Matt Ryan may have a tough time establishing the against the Tampa defense, leading to a lot of responsibility on Ryan’s arm. The Buccaneers defense have had issues in the secondary lately, which could lead to a big day for the former Boston College Eagle. The secondary will be without safety Mike Edwards following a suspension, however, they are getting cornerback Carlton Davis back after missing seven weeks with a torn quad. He spoke to reporters Friday

“It’s been tormenting, just watching (defensive backs) catch interceptions and make plays,” Davis said. “It sucks. It’s like I’m a kid in timeout watching everybody play on the playground. It’s like, ‘I want to go play, too. I want to have fun on the monkey bars.’ “

Buccaneers’ offense should be able to move the ball with no problems on Sunday

The Falcon’s defense has allowed 368 yards per game which is 22nd in the league, and 27 points per game which is 31st in the league. On the other hand, the Buccaneers have the number one offense in the league with 31.5 points per game. Tampa will, once again, be without Antonio Brown due to an injury/suspension. Brown has been nursing a foot injury but will also begin his three-game suspension for misrepresenting his COVID-19 vaccination status. Bruce Arians spoke on Friday about it.

“Obviously we have two guys suspended, the league did their due diligence, and we move on. I will not address those guys for the next three weeks. They’ll just be working out and we’ll address their future at that time. Other than that, there’s really nothing to say.”

Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans should have a couple of touchdowns on Sunday

The Bucs will once again turn to the likes of veterans Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Evans had had success against the Falcons in his career. In 14 games, Evans has 74 receptions for 1,137 yards and 10 touchdowns. In their first meeting with the Falcons this season, Evans hauled in five receptions for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Expect tight end, Rob Gronkowski, to also pick up the slack as he continues to get better coming off his rib and back injuries.

For Tom Brady and the Buccaneer offense, they should be able to spread the ball all over the field and score points against the dreadful Falcon defense. In addition, the running game should be solid and build off of last week’s performance by Leonard Fournette. During their week two matchup, Fournette rushed for just 52 yards on 11 carries.

This should be a business-like victory for the Bucs who are looking to fine-tune their play as they prepare to defend their Super Bowl championship in just a few weeks.
