The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have one of the most well-rounded rosters in football, with many believing that coach Todd Bowles' team can even challenge for the Super Bowl.
We think the same, if the injury bug stays away, but unfortunately, it has already struck, with left tackle Tristan Wirfs set to miss the beginning of the season with a knee injury.
That isn't ideal. Now, a solution has to be found for a team that can't afford to be hit by injuries, especially to the offensive line.
For Bleacher Report, figuring out who will replace Wirfs is the biggest issue as training camp - (Monday reporting for rookies, Tuesday for veterans) comes into view.
"Offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard is already running into his first problem as the Bucaneers new offensive coordinator," Bleacher Report writes. "News of Tristan Wirfs getting knee surgery that could see him miss at least the first four games of the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list broke just a few weeks before camp.
"The Buccaneers signed Charlie Heck in March. It didn't seem like a significant signing then, but he could wind up playing a huge role early in the season. DJ Humphries or George Fant could be veterans to keep an eye on. They aren't optimal at this point, but the Bucs will need to have an answer."
Last season, the Buccaneers managed to overcome the crippling injury toll, and if there is a positive to come out of Wirfs' injury, it is that it happened early.
Now, Bowles and his coaching staff can put a host of players through their paces at training camp, with Charlie Heck likely to get first crack at the left tackle spot and undrafted rookie free agent Benjamin Chukwuma could also see some snaps.
Tampa Bay might look to free agency, too, but like most teams, the Buccaneers will want to try and find an in-house solution before opening up the search.
The Buccaneers need things to go their way in 2025, and right off the bat, the football gods have intervened.
