Buccaneers Hire Quarterbacks Coach

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended the 2025 season winning only two of their last nine games and finishing 8-9 despite a strong 6-2 start. Following their playoff miss and failure to secure the NFC South title, head coach Todd Bowles made significant changes to his staff, including the addition of offensive coordinator Zac Robinson and special teams coordinator Danny Smith.

Bowles also parted ways with quarterbacks coach Thad Lewis. And after a thorough search, he’s landed a top candidate – Chandler Whitmer, Indiana’s quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator. Whitmer brings an impressive resume, having helped develop Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza, and is expected to bring new energy to the Bucs’ offense.

“The Bucs agreed to terms with Chandler Whitmer as their quarterbacks coach, sources tell The Insiders.

Whitmer, 34, spent last season Indiana’s co-OC/QB coach, developing Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza on the way to a national title. He had multiple NFL offers but chose Tampa.”

This is an excellent hire by the Buccaneers. Whitmer is young and has a fantastic resume.
