Buccaneers keep rights to Antonio Brown another day

The only real thing for sure about Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wide receiver Antonio Brown heading into Wednesday night is that nothing's for sure.

Per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, the Buccaneers retained Brown's rights for another NFL day coming off his bizarre midgame exit from the field during this past Sunday's victory at the New York Jets. Tampa Bay's non-transaction came after head coach Bruce Arians reiterated previous comments and said Brown is not an active part of the team moving forward.

Brown recently appeared in a Cameo video and implied he's attempting "to figure out" his next team. He may not have much, if any, say about his NFL employer until some point after Super Bowl LVI.

The Buccaneers could look to suspend Brown without pay for conduct detrimental to the team or agree that a supposed setback related to the ankle he first hurt back in October is making him ineligible to play and, as a result, place him on the injured reserve list.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Buccaneers listed him as out of practice for non-injury reasons.

Every day Brown remains attached to the Buccaneers is another he isn't subject to waivers and cannot potentially pass into free agency. Tampa Bay's actions since Monday morning suggest the club isn't interested in allowing him to sign with any other contender before the upcoming postseason tournament.
