Buccaneers legend continues record-setting run
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

There may not be a lot to love about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers right now, but Mike Evans sure does make it easy to keep coming back to this team. That is a trend that has been going on for a decade now.

Despite all the problems and shortcomings of this franchise, Evans has always been a bright spot for this team to build around. The star is a sure thing for the Ring of Honor in Tampa and should have a similar case in Canton.

Part of Evans' case for these individual acknowledgements has been his NFL record for seasons with 1,000 receiving yards to start a career. That record grew tonight.

Mike Evans has officially been in the NFL for ten years and has reached the 1,000-yard mark in every one of those seasons after going off for 162 yards tonight. Not only is that a record, but it also brings Evans within striking distance of another record that is held by the greatest wide receiver of all time; most consecutive seasons with 1,000 yards, (11) held by Jerry Rice.

There may be some question marks about Evans' future in Tampa with some potential rough years ahead, but one thing that should be a safe bet is that Evans will get his yards again next year if he is with a team that will throw the ball.

A great career just keeps growing in Tampa. The Buccaneers would be crazy to ever consider letting Evans walk-regardless of the price. A few more years like this would make it impossible to argue against Evans' candidacy for the HoF, if it is even possible to argue against it now.
