Buccaneers Like Cade Otton’s Durability
Kim Klement Neitzel-USA TODAY Sports

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton has become a reliable favorite of quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Bucs offense.

Since being drafted out of Washington in the fourth-round of the 2022 NFL draft, Otton has improved each year. Now heading into the 2024 season, Otton is poised to take another step in becoming a top player at the position league wide.

Recently, head coach Todd Bowles spoke about Otton and his progression from rookie to looking at a breakout season in his third year.

“His durability has been outstanding. We’ve called on him a lot as a rookie. It’s hard to believe he’s only a third-year guy coming up. His durability has been outstanding and he’s had different coordinators each year, so his ability to adapt and learn. He’s had different coaches, it’s not like he’s had the same position coach or had the same offensive coordinator. So, to learn different things and tweak his game to fit what we needed him to do is outstanding.”

Otton is reliable, he’s athletic, smart, and seems to embrace the physicality of the position. He hasn’t exactly blown-up the stat sheet, but has done what’s been asked of him. Look for Otton to excel under new offensive coordinator Liam Coen and his penchant for a physical style offense.
