Buccaneers Place Jalen McMillan on Injured Reserve

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made several roster moves official Wednesday involving Jalen McMillan, Brett Rypien, and Ifeatu Melifonwu. Tampa Bay placed McMillan on injured reserve because of a knee injury, while adding Rypien to the practice squad. The Buccaneers also promoted Melifonwu to the active roster.

Jalen McMillan Suffers Another Injury

McMillan suffered his knee injury during Sunday’s matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. He was injured on Tampa Bay’s third play from scrimmage and did not return.

Via the team’s website,

“McMillan sustained a knee injury on the Buccaneers’ third play from scrimmage on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings and did not return to the game. It is second season in a row in which he has been forced to spend time on injured reserve after he missed much of the 2025 campaign due to a frightening neck injury suffered in a preseason game. McMillan will have to miss at least four games before he is eligible to return to the active roster.”

This marks the second consecutive season McMillan has spent time on injured reserve. He missed much of the 2025 campaign after suffering a frightening neck injury during the preseason.

McMillan also missed the season opener because of a knee injury. He returned for limited action in Week Two but did not record a reception.

McMillan Has Shown Production

The Buccaneers selected McMillan in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He appeared in 17 games with 14 starts during his first two seasons.

McMillan recorded 49 receptions for 639 yards and eight touchdowns during that span. Now, he will miss at least four games while recovering from his latest injury.
