Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield Facing Injury Concerns Ahead of Eagles Game

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had a disjointed start to the season with all of the injuries they’ve faced on the offensive side of the ball, but they’ve still managed to remain successful.

They are 3-0, with three game-winning drives to put them ahead in the final minutes, largely thanks to quarterback Baker Mayfield.

His numbers don’t seem elite on the surface, but when you factor in the losses on the offensive line and the wide receiver room, they look that much better.

Mayfield has thrown for 615 yards and six touchdowns this season without his top offensive lineman and wide receiver Chris Godwin, who has been recovering from a fibula fracture he sustained last year.

Now, the Buccaneers may be in further trouble ahead of their high-profile matchup with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. The team is listing Mayfield as questionable for Sunday’s game after being limited this week in practice with a bicep injury.

Tampa Bay’s head coach, Todd Bowles, told reporters he believes his quarterback is trending in the right direction, but no official decision has been announced yet.

It’s hard to imagine a player as tough as Mayfield would miss a game with such high stakes, but he and Bowles both know he’ll need a full range of motion to be effective against a stout Eagles defense.

The Buccaneers have had an impressive run of success against Philadelphia as of late, with three wins over the last two seasons alone, an impressive feat for two teams that play in separate divisions.

Tampa Bay has a chance to sustain that dominance on Sunday, but they’ll likely need Mayfield to do it
