Buccaneers Ready To See More From Devin Culp In Year 2

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Devin Culp got his feet wet last season as part of Todd Bowles' roster, and while he didn't see the field too often, he did enough to think something special could be unlocked.

Given the number of attacking weapons at Josh Grizzard's disposal, getting Culp, who is down the depth chart, more snaps could prove challenging, as Cade Otton is the starter and Payne Durham and Ko Kieft are ahead of him.

Posting just 88 yards from five receptions with his 41 offensive snaps, Culp did put together back-to-back games of 56 and 32 yards to end the regular season in some decent form.

Now he's carried that over to the offseason, and in training camp, Bowles has liked what he's seen from the seventh-round tight end.

“He's probably the most athletic one,” Bowles said. “He's the fastest one for sure. I think that did a lot to his confidence and our confidence in him going forward. Obviously still like to see him block and pick up the scheme and do things certain things as far as motioning and blocking defensive ends and that type of thing. But as a receiver, he came on last year. Got a lot done for his confidence, and I think that'll help him going into this year.”

So, there are a couple of rough edges that Devin has to smooth over, but his receiving skills are what will make him see the field in 2025.

With a hulking 6-4, 237lb frame, the fact that Devin is the fastest in the group, if he can continue to improve his skills as a receiver, there will be chances on offense under Grizzard, because a player of that size is a matchup nightmare.

But to be that, you have to be dependable, and it appears Culp is still a work in progress there. However, that is what camp is for, and if Bowles likes what he sees, that might hint at something good coming Culp's way in 2025.
