“Emeka Egbuka is off to the most productive start ever for a Tampa Bay Buccaneer wide receiver, and on Thursday he made franchise history in another way. Egbuka has been named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for the month of September, the first Buccaneers receiver ever to win that award.”

Emeka Egbuka dominated among NFL rookies with leading stats in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, and yards per reception (15.7 yards), and tied for the rookie lead in total touchdowns scored. He also topped rookie receivers in yards from scrimmage (291) and yards after catch (115), tied for the most receptions (18), and ranked second in receiving first downs (11). Per NFL Next Gen Stats, his 128.0 passer rating when targeted ranks him first among NFL rookies and second overall among all pass-catchers, just behind Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Egbuka becomes the first Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie in 10 years to claim NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month honors. Previously, quarterback Jameis Winston was the last Buc to achieve this in November 2015. Egbuka marks the ninth Buccaneer to receive this award, breaking a streak of the prior eight recipients all being quarterbacks or running backs.

Egbuka is on pace for 1,190 yards and 17 touchdowns for his rookie campaign.
