The Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured their winning formula by signing head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht to multi-year contract extensions. This move ensures continuity and stability for the team, bolstering their chances of competing for additional championships.

With their impressive track record, including three consecutive NFC South division titles and a Super Bowl win, the Buccaneers are committed to building on their success under the leadership of Licht and Bowles

The Buccaneers’ ownership group demonstrated its confidence in the team’s leadership duo by allowing coach Todd Bowles and GM Licht to maintain their collaborative approach, setting the stage for another championship run.

Licht on his and Bowles’ extensions,

“I am very grateful to the Glazer Family for the trust and belief they have shown in what we are doing here,” Licht stated. “I am also very excited to continue working alongside Todd well into the future as we continue our mission of finding and developing talented players and chasing additional championships for our fans.”

With a loaded offense and the anticipated boost from Haason Reddick’s defensive presence, Buccaneers fans are optimistic about a deep playoff push in 2025. As the NFC South favorites, Tampa Bay boasts a well-rounded roster with few weaknesses, thanks to GM Licht’s masterful construction. The offense, spearheaded by a resurgent Baker Mayfield, is poised to drive the team’s success, fueled by Licht’s relentless pursuit of another championship.

More on the Buccaneers extending Bowles/Licht

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have secured their leadership duo for the long haul, announcing that head coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht have signed multi-year contract extensions.

The terms of the contract extensions for Todd Bowles and Jason Licht weren’t made public, however, several reports indicate Bowles’ new deal adds four seasons, running through 2028.

Buccaneers co-chairman Joel Glazer emphasized the importance of the team’s leadership, stating they’re vital to sustaining the team’s success.

Statement from Joel Glazer,

“The continuity and stability they provide will play a large role in our ability to compete for additional championships.”

Todd Bowles took the reins as Buccaneers head coach after Bruce Arians’ retirement in 2021, previously serving as the team’s defensive coordinator. Since then, he’s compiled a 27-24 record. Bowles’ coaching experience also includes stints as head coach of the New York Jets (53-65) and a brief tenure as interim coach of the Miami Dolphins.

The Buccaneers are coming off a streak of four straight NFC South division titles, setting the stage for another competitive season.

“I am excited to continue working with Jason for years to come as we build on the success we’ve enjoyed and keep reaching for even bigger and better goals,” Bowles said. “My family loves Tampa and we’re looking forward to delivering more great moments for our fans in the coming seasons.”

Licht has been a steady hand at the helm as GM since 2014, building a strong core that ultimately supported Tom Brady’s Super Bowl LV-winning run. Under Licht, the Buccaneers have emphasized drafting and developing talent, while also making savvy free agent moves – a strategy that paid off with Baker Mayfield exceeding expectations and earning a Pro Bowl selection.

“I am also very excited to continue working alongside Todd well into the future as we continue our mission of finding and developing talented players and chasing additional championships for our fans.”

This move comes as no surprise, given the team’s success under their guidance, including four consecutive NFC South division titles and a five-year streak of playoff appearances, the longest in franchise history. Both Bowles and Licht expressed gratitude to the Glazer family for their trust and commitment to the team’s vision.
